ABOUT TAILORED LIFE IN STYLE
The working world has become much more casual throughout the last few years. The modern woman no longer wears head to toe suiting to the office. Rather, tailored pieces are mixed and matched with what would have been considered "weekend wear". For example, blazers are paired with t-shirts and crisp cotton shirting is paired with denim.
Banana Republic and Banana Republic Factory Store (BRFS) have been catering to the professional woman who pairs a blazer with matching trousers for years. Although the brand has fully embraced more casual clothing with its athleisure "Life in Style" collection, the company has been unable to combine this with the work classics their customer loves and seeks to give her a wardrobe that feels right for the times.
This summer collection consists of two flows that combine tailoring with sporty/casual clothing by mixing sleek fabrics and suitings with casual jerseys and knits. The silhouettes are more relaxed and on trend, focusing on sporty details like drawstrings, ties, and elasticated waistbands to bring an athleisure spirit to the sophisticated BRFS customer within her budget.
This project was created during an eight week internship program at Banana Republic.
